A highly respected lawyer who also holds a degree in politics, Scott’s practical and outcome-driven approach is invaluable in navigating the development approvals process with his clients.
Scott acts in all facets of land use and development in Victoria, including notable engagements in:
- Numerous approvals for one of Australia’s largest hospitality & venue operators;
- Complicated and interrelated development approval processes at the former Alphington Paper Mills;
- Obtaining approval for a number of substantial CBD developments, including a new office tower at the rear of the State heritage-listed Shell House, a 25-level residential tower in the ANZAC Station precinct and a 34-level hotel in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD;
- Multiple approvals in the Mornington Peninsula green wedge, including dwellings, a chocolaterie and a microbrewery;
- Overturning site-specific heritage overlays proposed in Mont Albert, Canterbury and Rosanna; and
- Proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria, including appeals from VCAT & the Building Appeals Board and pursuing modifications of restrictive covenants.
Scott’s prowess and legal acumen has been recognized by his peers through his role as Co-Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Planning & Local Government Committee and his inclusion in Doyle’s Guide for a number of years.
Outside of the office, you’ll find Scott pounding the pavement on a run, at the MCG for a Collingwood game or trying to make his way through an ever-growing pile of books purchased but not yet commenced.
